Developing infrastructure in Africa with AFD and DBSA
The French Development Agency (AFD) supports the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) in financing infrastructure projects in Africa, outside South Africa. Thanks to a credit line in dollars, these projects aim to improve access to water and electricity and strengthen the economic capacities of local populations. By promoting partnerships and integrating the fight against climate change, this initiative also creates opportunities for French companies.
Partnerships for financing affordable housing in Africa
CAHF collaborates with donors such as FSD Africa and the French Development Agency to support affordable housing projects in Africa. These partnerships facilitate access to financing for low-income households and promote financial inclusion. By working with regional actors, CAHF strengthens the impact of its initiatives on the ground, helping to improve access to housing for vulnerable populations.
Support for affordable housing in urban centers
AFD is supporting the National Housing Finance Corporation in South Africa to develop the supply of social housing in urban areas. Thanks to a €20 million credit line, the project has renovated 34 buildings in central Johannesburg, creating 1,771 social housing units. These initiatives aim to provide quality housing for low-income families, while revitalizing neighborhoods and facilitating access to employment centers and urban transportation.
